Transparency

Olive oil has a long and rich history of fraud, counterfeiting and adulteration that continues to this day.

Many store-bought extra virgin olive oils aren’t actually extra virgin olive oil, and some barely meet the lowest of standards. There is a UC Davis study that claims 69% of imported olive oil sold in the U.S. is fake, including many on store shelves.

Here are some ways Virdi provides transparency.

  • USDA organic certified.
  • We include the cultivar of our olives on the bottle.
  • We include the acidity level and polyphenol count on our labels. These are the two main indicators of high-grade EVOO.

While these are all good signs of a real extra virgin olive oil, the most transparent indicator is the actual chemical analysis. We provide this analysis for all of our olive oils so our customers can be confident they are getting the REAL thing.
